ABOUT US

The founder of the foundation, Christopher Inya is originally from Afikpo, Nigeria. He came to the United States with support from his local church to continue his university education.

After pursing a degree in Economics at Rutgers University and a graduate degree at Teachers College at Colombia University, he became an Economics professor at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York.

Between his upbringing and working with students as a professor, Christopher has made it a mission to help support the people of the Afikpo community through education, scholarships, and projects such as the Afikpo Library.

The first book Christopher read was in high school, titled 'Things Fall Apart' by Chinua Achebe. At that time, the seed was planted about wanting to create a library for his community, so that young children up through the respected elderly community would have the ability to access books.

Nothing can add to our intellect more than reading a book. We can experience new things that we might not have the ability to experience. Without reading, we wouldn't know anything about history from our forefathers.

Books are filled with great knowledge, parables, insights into a happy life about anything and everything. Join us on this journey of giving to this community in Afikpo, Nigeria!
